Blog on hold

It's not that I don't wanna update.. I have, in fact, tried several times. Unfortunately, everything is on hold due to the sucky internet connection which keeps getting interrupted.. every single day. What is going on here??? So... I can't upload photos.. can't do nothing.. =(

50% alcohol

I knew I missed out something.. Lookie what I found in my camera: Cap Apek. And if you look really carefully near the bottom of the bottle, it says 50% alcohol. Came across this while I was in Lundu late last month.. I never knew alcohol levels (drinks wise) could go that high.

Achy breaky heart

Q: Who's the latest man to make my little heart flutter??
A: Roger Federer

I was watching a replay of the US Open final between Federer and Del Potro. Of course, I didn't know the results yet. And for some inexplicable reason, my heart did a little flutter as I watched Federer play.. I mean.. I grew up watching this guy win so many tennis competitions on tv and I just wanted him to keep on winning.

Ten minutes later, during a commercial, I switched the channel to CNN.. which reported that Federer lost to Del Potro!!! My heart just dropped. It was already 3 hours into the game!! He was THIS close to winning.. Why? How?

Ah.. couldn't bring myself to watch the rest of the game.. =(

Damai - Gunung Gading - Pandan Beach

I have been driving sooo much... last weekend alone, I drove to Damai on Saturday and Lundu on Sunday. Ok.. I'll be the first to admit my driving needs to be improved.. but I got everyone there and back safely on both days. Not sure what my passengers would say though..

On Saturday, all the Imperial people in Kuching went to Damai to see the beach. First, I had to pick up Chee Chung and Kuo Jian at Jalan Song.. Omg.. took me forever to find their house. Then I went past Phoebe's house and had to turn around. We proceeded to Chong Choon for laksa and I kinda took a wrong turning.. No matter.. we made it to Damai, ate lunch at Buntal, went to Song Kheng Hai for sugarcane and coconut.. too bad Sunny Hill was closed so no ice cream.

Sadly, I don't have any photos from Damai.. and my photos from Lundu are quite sucky.. this is what happens when you're too lazy to use a camera.. or when no one wants to take charge.. Anyway, it's supposed to take 3 hours to reach the peak of Gunung Gading. Since it was a family trip, we made it as far as the first waterfall only which took about 30 minutes.

Wth.. no photo of the waterfall itself..

Just chilling on a rock.

The family minus me.

Just in case.. park rescue team contact: 735144

Rafflesia- not in bloom this time of the year.

Sweaty, sunny afternoon.

Well.. that was it.. went to Pandan beach after.. again no pictures at the beach. Celaka. I was the only one who swam since I brought extra clothes and a towel. Brother read a book, Dad just walked around and Mom sat in the car in front of the air-con. Sighz.. I feel so unfulfilled... and inspired to return to Gunung Gading and reach the peak!!! If not this year, then next summer because people are leaving already..

Miaw..

For all you people in Kuching.. have you ever realised that the drain covers in Kuching are embossed with cats?? I'm serious... A bunch of us went to Chong Choon the other day and Bernie, being the genius he is, parked all the way at Secret Recipe.. Anyway, along the way were all these drain covers with cats on them and I thought they were totally adorable!!! Don't you think so??

Japanese cucumbers

The first time I heard about Japanese cucumbers were in Sabah when Steph Yen said she loved them and that they were cheaper than your average cucumber... It tasted alright... I guess.. not a huge fan of cucumbers.. Anyway, for anyone who's curious, I came across some at Boulevard hypermarket the other day so this is how they look like.. *nothing special* =P

Fish spa parts 1 & 2

There's this place in town where Tao used to be.. it's been replaced by 175 and a bunch of us went there for drinks.. and to experience the "free" fish spa there (you gotta buy a drink first). Ok.. remember when I mentioned taking photos of photos.. this is it..

This is everyone (including me!) who went the first time.. I think that was the only time I met Stella apart from Damai and Boulevard.

Bernie goes in first..

Surprisingly, the guys enjoyed themselves.. all the girls (including me) had trouble getting used to the idea of fish eating dead skin off our feet =S

I have no idea whose feet these are..

Omg.. it's a free buffet for the fish..

Second time round for Amy, Bernie and I.

Ok.. that's Shih Yang's friend, Chern Wei, from KL.. Look at him look at Shih Yang =P

Awww... he's having fun...

Seems a bit alang alang to end with that last photo.. Anyway, has anyone else tried the fish spa?? Waddya think?? Personally, I highly doubt I'll be sticking my feet into that pool anytime soon.. it's just waay too gilik for me..

Up the mountain and down the sea in Kota Kinabalu

One of the main reasons why I've been gone so long was because I spent 10 days in KK, Sabah. It included the whole bunch of Malaysian Bio-eng-ers: Steph Yen (our hostess), Brian, Voon Yuan, Ken and I. We went diving (my parents allowed me to go but they weren't too happy bout letting me.. bleh) and climbed Mount K!!

Darn! I thought this was a nice group pic.. then I realised Brian wasn't in it *ditcher* =P

There we go: VY, Ken, me, Brian and Steph in front.

Us, girls..

That's gonna be the picture on my diving license.

Unlike some people, it's easy to recognise me underwater by the colour of my shorts.

Diving is tiring..

Is it so fun to disturb a tired person??

Monitor lizard on the island..

So fun to bury people in sand =)

Spreading the sleeping aura to Steph Yen -_-

Mount K!!

At the peak!!

To see the sunrise!!!

Is that pretty or what??!!

I cannot believe VY brought a bottle of Guinness all the way up.. or that I posed with it..

I have no idea how these people can achieve those times.. O.o

Break-dancing on the mountain??

This girl did not climb Mount K with the rest of us but she was certainly there to sambut us when we came down..

Muahaha.. more sleepiness..

The happiest girl in the world =D

Stephanie Yen.. thank you so sooo much for everything.. this trip would never have happened without you.. I had tons of fun.. apart from the part where I nearly missed my flight back to Kuching but all's good. Hehe.

Oh, yeah.. I also met up with Shih Yang and Adrian on the last two days.. No pictures though.. but I don't need pictures to remember a good time, right?! ^^

One month hiatus

Apologies for not updating this blog in over a month.. been busy and stuff. My phone also kind of died-ed. Stupid Sony Ericsson... now I can't use it to take photos anymore.. It was so convenient because I didn't have to resize all those pictures to post them.. now that's gone.. and I lost all my contacts which really sucks.

This is my second Sony Ericsson phone to die on me after less than a year.

I am now using a Nokia N97.. so far, so good but it has yet to pass the test of time.

Unfortunately, I just found out my new phone and the bluetooth thingy on my laptop are "incompatible". This is totally ridiculous. "Receiving device does not support this image format." Due to unforseen circumstances, I have been forced to use my camera to take photos of the photos in my phone for subsequent entries otherwise all those pictures will go to waste. Hope the quality won't be too bad..

Cut off from the world

It was just a few hours ago when I was happily having a video conversation with Jieyang and Muffin. Now, MSN refuses to sign me in, my phone's not working and even Facebook is pms-ing!! I'm on the road to becoming anti-social of the year.

Results release

Yesterday, the breakdown of the results were released. Talked to Voon Yuan about it.. so far, he's the only person I know who made it to the 4 year MEng course. Looks like next year is gonna be my final year in Imperial. Aargh.. I just wanna get things over and done with. I so hate my course. I would change it if I could but after investing 2 years in it... what choice do I have..

The release of results plus the Aussie people leaving got me thinking of uni life again.. exam stress... sleeping in classes.. house hunting last year.. that was horrible!! Realised I didn't even take a photo of my room at Chamberlain before moving out.. I did, however come across a photo of my future housemates.

Haha.. Wen-Jei would probably ask me to remove this post because of the photo.. but I doubt she knows about my blog.. I think I'll tell her though.. just to see her reaction.. I'm so evil. I look forward to staying with you guys in out "dream house" next year. =)

Kevin's (second) last day

Two days before Kevin left.. ie two days ago, Kevin, Shih Yang, Bernie and I went out for breakfast at Yeow Kee in 101 Premiere. The roti kahwin there is supposed to be really good coz they use bread from aloha, pandan kaya and charcoal. It was so-so I guess..

I prefer the food from our first breakfast at Foody Goody after sending Joon Hui off. We had laksa, yew char kueh, yew char kueh with butter and kaya, ham ching peng and oh kueh.. woosh.. the calories!!!

Anyway, ngam ngam that morning, three of us wore traffic light colours unintentionally and we didn't even realise it till Bernie mentioned it.

As always, the time spent together with old friends is priceless.

Lionel's last day

Friends have come and gone from Kuching in the recent weeks.. Some without even my knowing. I'm really glad I managed to spend time with old friends. It's funny how it's so easy to speak to some people I haven't met since Form 5. Example: Lionel Lam aka How I Met Your Mother freak. Hehe... This is what we did the day before he left..

Bernie, Lionel and Gilbert went swimming.

They played Marco Polo.

Bernie calling out "Marco" to Lionel.

Lionel's turn to be Marco.

Lionel still as Marco while Bernie and Gilbert watch on.

Gilbert in the small pool and Bernie in the bushes. If you're reading this Lionel, now you know why you couldn't catch them.

Us girls just enjoyed dipping our feet and watching the fun going on.

At least until this guy came over to pinch our toes!

Our fav class genius and paramount of beauty!

Just look at the beautiful blue water..

Oh no, Lionel's got a cramp!

The medic is here to help! =)

Lionel.. I enjoyed climbing Santubong with you and being around all your craziness. Have fun in Perth and all the best in your hunt for your significant other!
