LOTDance

Anyone remember the time I did a speech/ presentation about Michael Flatley?? It was back in Form 4 if I'm not mistaken.. This is THE man responsible for Riverdance, Feet of Flames and Lord of the Dance. I remember I had a January 1991 issue of National Geographic declaring him as a "living treasure".. I say he's the original poser of his time.. take a look at his posters.. damn cool lar..

SOOOO.. I actually wanted to watch Riverdance last Saturday because it was on its farewell tour in London.. but it clashed with many things and it was too late to book the tickets (this was about a month ago I think). Anyway, I figured it's ok since I watched it before in.. KL or Singapore.. I can't remember..

NOW, I wanna watch Lord of the Dance which is showing on May 22. The thing is my exams might not be over yet.. Then again, it's on a Friday.. and I found 2 tickets for really really really good seats at really really really good prices. The thing is... I can't make up my mind la... and who would go with me?? Actually, I did ask a friend but no confirmation yet.. how to concentrate on work like this???

No more chicken rice!!!

Last Saturday night/ Sunday morning is the last time I'm cooking chicken rice for a long, long, LONG time. It took Khai Ming and I the entire soundtrack of Les Miserables and half of Lion King to prepare all the ingredients below:

That's ginger, chillies, garlic, cucumber and spring onions.

Not funny, man!! My whole body ached after standing for so long just chopping and chopping and chopping... It felt like we were never EVER gonna finish.. Don't you dare say it doesn't look like much. You try preparing food for 50 people.. 40 + 10 = 50 f.y.i.

The chicken rice looked exactly the same as the week before so no point showing photos. As if tiada quality control this time round because we cooked the rice 5 times and each time was different.. either too oily, not oily enough or not enough ginger etc etc..

I swear my flat still smelt like chicken rice this morning.. ugh.. won't be making that particular dish for a while...

V-day and chicken rice

Happy belated Valentine's Day, all. Sadly, both my housemates are gone: one off to her boyfriend in Swansea and the other to Coventry to meet friends. Well.. all that matters is that I'm happily single and I joined the Hyde Park Relay on V-day. I almost died!! 5.1km in 28 minutes.. I didn't really train much because, like I said, I've been busy with coursework all week. Also, I finished most of the CNY goodies from my mom *fatty*

4th runner of the 99th team.

After that, I was busy busy busy cooking. Thank goodness for Voon Yuan, Brian and Tian Siong!! I've no idea how I would've managed cooking enough chicken rice for 40 people without them!!!! That's 20 cups of rice and 4 whole chickens!!! Do you have any idea how much garlic and ginger I chopped??!!! Not to mention the number of times we had to boil the chicken and cook the rice!! OMG.. how (and why) do I always get myself into this kinda situations..

The most authentic homemade chicken rice garnished with cucumber and coriander (yuck.. don't like this but my friends insisted on putting it).

That's right.. 40 packs of chicken rice..

Packed into boxes and ready to go for MNight rehearsals..

Never again.. should have never volunteered to help out in welfare. It's crazy.. and that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I'm still up at this ghastly hour of about 6.30am now..

Post Chap Goh Mei

Steph finished her exams after Chap Goh Mei so we all had a Kuching dinner together at the Korean restaurant Arang in Picadilly Circus.. Ben was like.. why not Four Seasons??!! Honestly, the duck is good but there's only so much duck one can eat.. Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures.. but when we all parted ways to go back, Shih Yang, Ben and I came across this interesting looking car which reminded us of Bernie for some reason.. Ya think?

Bernie's not so wild night out in London

Ok.. super late post here.. only because I've been so busy with coursework and TRYING to catch up with work (fail!!). What has happened since my last post... Bernie has come and gone, I've discovered the wonders of caffeine and... hmmm.. a bit hard to think considering it's almost 6am now. Bleh..

Anyway, some photos from Bernie's not so wild night out..

Chilling at Yates after getting turned away from Voulezvous.

It's good to hang out with old friends *grinz*

Come back to London sometime soon, Berps.. you know you'll have a good time =)

Les Miserables

Les Miserables is a damn good show. In fact, I'm listening to the soundtrack while doing an assignment now.. last minute assignment la.. just found out yesterday afternoon it's supposed to be handed in today. That's why I'm still awake. Bleh.

Anyway, as I was saying about Les Mis... It's seriously very good. Omg.. when little Cossete sings "Castle on a Cloud", my heart just melted and tears ran down my eyes.. Somemore Bernie still say it wasn't tragic enough. How much more tragic can it be?? It's sad enough as it is la T_T

Bleh.. kena caught by security after taking this photo.

The Company of Wolves

Little girls, it seems to say
Never stop upon your way
Never trust a stranger friend
No one knows how it will end
As you're pretty, so be wise
Wolves may lurk in every guise
Now as then 'tis simple truth
Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth

Let it snow!!

Waddya know.. it snowed on Sunday.. nearly froze to death in Trafalgar Square that morning.. so much for watching the CNY festivities. It snowed so much that we were playing in the snow outside Chamberlain at 12 midnight.. siaw.. still wake up to go uni at 9am..

Bioeng snowfight while awaiting word on whether lectures would be cancelled on Day 1..

I'm dreaming of a white CNY in Hyde Park *trails off*

Sitting atop one of the many snowballs (and snowmen) in Hyde Park.. picture courtesy of Stefan!

Free day today again. Unfortunately, everything's back to normal tomorrow. On a brighter note, gonna be going on a musical frenzy this week:

Les Miserables on Wednesday with Bernie and Yichieh..

& Sound of Music on Thursday with Stella and Yun Mei.

Tourist in London

Like I said before, Bernie's in London.. Met up with him on Friday after he got lost in the Natural History Museum. Haha.. He seemed to like my uni.. considering the kind of fees I'm paying...

We had kebabs for dinner.. Then Shih Yang came along and we went for gelato at Oddono's and frozen yogurt at Snog..

Today was crazy.. we went to so many places:

Portobello Market.. with Stella and Shih Yang.. loved the cupcakes from Hummingbird Bakery.

King's Cross Station.. Not as glamorous as in the Harry Potter books/ movies but still pretty cool..

There was also the market in Camden Town. It was down to Stella, Bernie and I by now. It was pretty cool but the most interesting part was this shop called Cyberdog which sold super funky stuff. Think gothic like Marilyn Manson and futuristic like the Jetsons..

Hung out at Stella's place in Canada Water. Amy arrived in time to help cook *cough*burn the garlic*cough* dinner.. haha.. joking only Amy. I KO-ed on the couch soon after while they camwhored in Stella's room.. tired mar.. what to do..

In any case, I trust Bernie has tons of pictures to share so I won't bother. I need to zzz.. gonna brave the crowds in Chinatown to catch a glimpse of the lion dance and other CNY festivities in a matter of hours. Wish us luck..
